Chapter 9
I found it to be very disturbing that cattle are being feed other animals. These animals were born to eat grass and maybe grain not other animals. What’s more upsetting is that the FDA approves these practices and even allow for the practice to run vice versa. Poultry being fed dead cattle, and cattle being fed dead poultry just sounds absurd. The FDA banned feeding the cattle cats and dogs that come from shelters, because it was found that this was linked to an outbreak of mad cow disease, But yet they are okay with feeding them other types of meat such as horses, pigs, and poultry without knowing what other outbreak these could bring. On page 202, Bjerklie states that “…they are not designed to eat other animals”. As I first stated cows were born to eat grass, if they are fed something that they might have issues digesting, bigger issues will develop in the long run. I believe that no animal should be fed something that is not designed to eat. I would prefer to pay twice the price for a piece of stake, than get the same stake at a cheaper price but be at risk of ending up in the ER.

DEEEEE, at the end of the post I kind of laughed, it wasn't funny but I can just picture you saying that. But it's soooo true. Now I have to think twice about the beef that I consumer because I might end up getting sick. It's scary, even though I made a little joke about it when we were eating during break, but this is a very serious matter.The fact that the FDA is still allowing this to continue is just soo disturbing !
ReplyDeleteIt really is disturbing to know that the animals were are eating, are eating other dead animals, it is no wonder why they are finding all sorts of food-borne illnesses in the food today. There is tons of grass and grains around for the cows to eat, its the companies selfishness and laziness that puts us all at risk of getting sick.

Its so gross just thinking that they would feed dead animals to cows, thats an abomination! Everyone knows that cows are herbivores, they already were feeding cows corn when they are supposed to eat grass. Now they are feeding them other animals. Thats like humans eating humans, in my opinion, thats how crazy the situation is.
ReplyDeleteLoved the ending to your post. More importantly, the general topic alone of cattle being fed other caddle and what not is shocking and really nasty. When you think about it, that's basically a form of cannibalism but without the cow being aware of it. Most normal humans would not want to eat another human so im pretty sure if a cow had the ability to speak, he would say that he wouldnt want to eat a fellow cow...
ReplyDeleteIf I was able to write cursed words I would. This is the type of situation that has been going on for a long time now everything we eat is not healthy anymore. The fact the FDA approves this is very DUMB and we look to them to approve what’s ok for us to eat. The fact they let them eat dead animals that’s like me eating you when u die SAD world we live in
ReplyDeleteYeah John I agree with you I really think if cows did have the ability to speak they would not me to happy about it and it would be a very serious issue. I feel that now I am going to have to think of a cow as a furious dog or any other dangerous animal, you never know if thanks to the change of their eating habits they just one day end up attacking humans. Sounds stupid huh? But so does feeding a cow chicken knowing is not designed to digest it.

Muhammad, what is it that you need me to explain??? Chickens are eating cows and cows are eating chicken… Not completely sure what part you misunderstood… and sorry for the word absorbed being in there I meant absurd didn’t noticed I typed in the wrong word but I’m sure you are smart enough to figure out what I meant… after all everyone else did… either way is now corrected thanks for pointing it out… and let me know specifically what it is that you need me to explain… I will be more than happy to do so…
Mary I completely agree with you companies have just become obsessed with making money not caring what issues their practices may be bringing to the consumer. I just think more than just crazy and scary. it’s really sad what this companies have come to.
Michelle, you over there laughing what you can’t take me seriously… you really should go find out what sausages are made of… I really want to see if you will eat it the same way you ate the sausage, egg and cheese wrap you had on break. But all jokes aside I think this matter is more than just serious, and it’s upsetting that nothing it’s being done to end all this.
It is disturbing to realize that because of the company trying to gain more benefits we are in risk of getting sick everytime we feel like eating meat... it's not fair at all. And on top of that it is legal to do so, it sounds like the FDA also doesn't care about the consumers welfare.

ReplyDeleteoverall i believe that this is well in detail on how you explained the feeding between the animals . i find it very disgusting and i understand why there are so many different spreads of diseases taking place.
